How to use Visual Studio on a Mac without sacrificing performance

I recently spent some time figuring out the best way to get Visual Studio running on my MacBook Pro. I was skeptical starting out (I’ve always used Windows boxes as my development machines), but I ended up being impressed.

I wrote up my findings in a handy guide, thought it might be useful for somebody. Enjoy!

Great insight. I, too, have a Mac and run Windows on it. I’d decided to go with Parallels + Bootcamp option. I rarely use the bootcamp part, so maybe I should switch to pure parallels. Your contrast on that is useful.

Thanks for taking the time to write the post.

I originally went with Bootcamp + Parallels because I wanted to keep that flexibility. I agree, I rarely use Bootcamp. Although it’s nice to be able to reboot to play Civ V on the weekends. :sunglasses:

Thanks for the feedback! Just curious, do you use any third-party tools, like Resharper? If so, how’s your performance?
